Me&Ro's designer Robin Renzi collaborated with longtime friend and artist, Jennifer Von Holstein, to create original artwork for the launch of the new O' Chain collection. The centerpiece is a watercolor of a Pacific Nine Bark Branch with the jewelry delicately draped from the branches. Robin and Jennifer have been friends since the early 80’s and met while waitressing at the famed New York City restaurant Indochine. “It was a very natural process for Jennifer and I to work together,” says Robin. “We both have so much respect for each other's work and are in awe of Mother Nature.”
Growing up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, as a young girl Jennifer spent countless hours looking at art in her favorite museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was walking distance from her house. After a seven month trip to India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran she landed back in New York City. Meeting Jean Michel Basquiat at a party, they collaborated on a series of 40 postcards which they sold all over Manhattan for one dollar, walking the streets to find buyers and eventually sold one to Henry Geldzahler and Andy Warhol, who were having lunch at a restaurant on Prince Street. The postcards will be included in a major Basquiat retrospective at the Barbican in London opening in September 2017.
“Collaborating with Robin is as natural as the weather, and we both have found something new and unique through our work together,” says Jennifer.
For a limited time and in celebration of the new collection, Me&Ro is proud to offer seven one-of-a-kind original watercolors and prints by Jennifer available for purchase here.
