Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, Designer Robin Renzi has created a collection of some of her most favorite shells that she has found from beaches as close as Long Island and as far away as India. One side is covered in 99.9% fine silver through the unique technique of electro forming while the other exposes the natural beauty of each shell.
Cowrie Shells have become meaningful to many cultures, from Thai folklore, to religious divination in West Africa. In Cuba they are thrown like coins, landing on dome side up or slit side up, and read by Santeras, who extrapolate divine messages from the toss. This 1 1/8” x 7/8” Cowrie Shell is whimsical. It’s mysterious and voluminous, with an outer ring of burnt umber that gives way to a rich purple hilltop. This electroformed shell hangs on 20” Sterling Silver Lure chain.
