Legend has it that, the world is held by four elephants that stand on the back of a giant sea turtle. These rare handmade salad servers of carved Albizia wood and coconut shell feature an engraved turtle handle. Albizia wood has become popular among slow design artisans in Hawaii. When the invasive plant is cleared to restore native ecology, the bright wood is put to this fine use by locals.
We found this treasure at the Gallery of Great Things in Kamuela Hawaii. This diverse gallery opened its doors over 30 years ago and currently represents over 200 local artists. These 11” long and 3” wide utensils are sure to toss up tales of travel at your next dinner party.
