The ocean calls to us......these shells tumbled by the ocean, onto the sand and collected by Designer Robin Renzi can now be worn as "gifts from the sea". Through the unique technique of electroforming one side of the shell is covered in 99.9% fine silver while the other side exposes the natural beauty of each shell.
Cowrie shells have become meaningful to many cultures, from Thai folklore, to religious divination in West Africa. In Cuba they are thrown like coins, landing dome side up or slit side up, and are read by Santeras, who pull divine messages from the toss. This 7/8” x ½” Cowrie shell is otherworldly. Its dome has a dark outer ring speckled with burnt umber, surrounding a cap of cloudy orange and burnt sienna, swirling like a fiery planet. Coated in fine silver this shell is accented by a luminous amorphous rose cut brown diamond, and hangs on a fine 18” recycled sterling silver chain with a lobster closure.
