Since ancient times shells have been a symbol of humanity, body, and soul. Their covering found in every shape and color, contains a sentient being for one precious life time. Inspired by these treasures of the sea, Designer Robin Renzi has created a collection of some of her favorite shells, found on beaches as close as Long Island and as far away as India. One side of each shell is covered in 99.9% fine silver, through the unique process of electroforming, while the other side exposes its bare natural beauty.
Cowrie shells are rich with meaning from Thailand to West African and Latin America. Their intricately toothed aperture is said to be the mouth of the gods. This silver coated cowrie shell measures 1” x 5/8” and boasts a pale sunny hue. The charm hangs from an 18” recycled sterling silver chain finished with a small round lobster closure.
